This A-B-C's provides definitions to words used through out the pet healthcare industry. Generally, Pet Health Insurance is used for unforeseen and unavoidable events - in this case, your pet's accidents, injuries or illnesses - in much the same way that you would take out car insurance in case of an accident. With our CFA program, we offer additional benefits for your pet's preventative care costs under our Wellness Plans. Please contact us for more information.
A - Accident: All of our policies provide coverage for accidents and injuries that can happen to your pet, anything from being hit by a car to swallowing 4 1/2 inch turkey skewer (we've seen it!).
B - Breed: The CFA Healthcare Plan accepts all breeds of cats and dogs.
C - Cancer: We provide coverage for cancer like any other illness; no additional rider is required, no additional coverage to purchase, no additional cost!
D - Deductible: Your deductible is the portion of a covered loss you pay before we are responsible for reimbursement under the policy. The amount and frequency of the deductible depends on which policy you choose.
E - Exams: Our Wellness Plans provide benefits toward your pet's annual physical exam, so be certain to have your pet examined on an annual basis to maintain their health and happiness.
F - Flea Control: Flea control is considered part of the wellness benefits on our two Wellness Plans. If you select one of these plans, 12 months of coverage is allowed based on your dog's weight, not on a pre-set dollar amount. This is another example of our great coverage.
G - Geriatric: We welcome all older pets to our Accident Plus policy. There is no upper age limit to join. Older pets can have accidents too - or suffer from bite wounds, insect bites, burns and other injuries, no matter how careful you are!
H - Heartworms: Taking advantage of our Wellness Plans will allow you to have coverage for annual heartworm testing and 12 months of Heartworm Prevention, based on your pet's weight.
I - Incident: An illness or injury may take an extended time to be treated and is not considered preexisting with your policy renewal!
J - Jumping is fun for pets but can be dangerous: Even indoor pets are at risk from the unexpected tumble. Pets want exercise and sometimes they'll get it any way they can; even jumping out of your arms can result in a trip to the hospital.
K - Keep a Claim Form Handy: You never know when you will have to go to the veterinarian. Keep claim forms and your policy number handy. This will save you time in filing your claims.
L - Ligaments: The CFA program provides truly superior cruciate ligament coverage. While we usually see more claims for cruciate ligament tears or ruptures in dogs, cats are also at risk. There is no specific waiting period for cruciate tears or ruptures and no special limits for in our Wellness Plus Plan.
M - MRI and CT Scans: Diagnostic tests and scans performed to determine the cause of an illness or injury are included in your benefits for covered conditions.
N - Neutering & Spaying: Our Wellness Plus Plan covers neutering or spaying.
O - On-going Conditions: Unlike injuries, on-going conditions (such as skin conditions, allergies, epilepsy) often require treatment over many years. Over 50% of our claims are for on-going conditions so it is important to know that your policy will allow coverage for these conditions year after year, up to the maximum per incident limit.
P - Prevention: The Wellness and Wellness Plus Plans provide benefits for a physical exam, fecal exam, heartworm test, heartworm prevention, fleas and tick prevention, annual dental cleaning, vaccinations and even an option for spaying or neutering.
Q - Quick Claims Settlement: The CFA Pet Healthcare Plan aims for a fast turnaround so your claims are processed quickly - generally claims are processed within 15 days after receiving all necessary information.
R - Renewal: The great thing about our renewal process is that it's automatic. As long as we have a current form of payment, your coverage will continue without lapse or worry.
S - Specialists: Sometimes you may need to visit a specialist. These visits can be very expensive. Our plans allow for specialist visits and visits to emergency clinics!
T - Teeth: Your pet's dental health is very important to overall health. Our Wellness Plans provide benefits for an annual dental cleaning to make certain that your pet's teeth and gums are healthy.
U - Understanding: Your coverage is very important to you and your pet. We want to make sure you understand all of the benefits of your policy, so please let us answer any questions you have. When you take out the CFA Pet Healthcare Plan you have a 30-day 'free look,' in case you change your mind.* We encourage you to use this time to read the full terms and conditions. You can find these on the CFA Pet Healthcare Plan policy page.
V - Veterinarian: You can use any licensed veterinarian in the U.S. and also in Canada, if traveling there.
W - Wellness: Our Wellness Plans provide complete and comprehensive coverage for preventive treatments to prevent your pet from becoming ill, as well as providing superior benefits in case they do become ill or suffer an accident or injury.
X - X-Rays: Veterinary medicine relies upon X-Rays to help diagnose conditions. Our pet insurance covers this diagnostic procedure. We also provide benefits for MRIs, CT Scans and other advanced diagnostic procedures if medically necessary.
Y - Young: We can start providing coverage for your puppy as early as 8 weeks old and your kitten as early as 10 weeks old. Protect them from the beginning!
Z - Zoonotic: A funny word that means any illness that originates from an animal that can be transferred to a human, so by protecting your pets you are protecting yourself and your family.
